This past week has been incredibly long. Everyone in the house managed to get sick with the exception of Kyle. We all had this cold that got progressively worse as it passed around. Of course I was the last one to have it which meant I had it the worst. So I didn’t quite get to blog the way I wanted to this week. Then a wonderful idea came to me. After everyone’s infection I had to scrub down the house. I’m the type of person that if it doesn’t smell like bleach then it must not be clean, but I received a bottle of Honest brand cleaner as a thank you gift with our last bundle and thought I’d give it a try. A look at the ingredients shows that it uses all plant based ingredients. Not really sure how I felt about that, but I still decided to try it out.
After using it to clean my kitchen and bathroom, I’ve come to a few conclusions about it. If you’re an organic save the world type person then this cleaner might be perfect for you. The OCD in me wasn’t a fan though. While it did seem to cut through grease on the stove in the kitchen, I still didn’t get that super clean feeling I get from Clorox wipes and spray. I wasn’t happy with it in the kitchen so I definitely wasn’t a fan in the bathroom. The scent of the cleaner is white grapefruit and while wonderful for the body wash and lotion, isn’t ideal for a cleaner. It’s not to say that it didn’t get anything clean, it just didn’t seem disinfected to me which was my main purpose at that time. I will say that it is perfect for wiping down the kids’ toys and anything in Kyle’s room because it is non toxic and we all know how 2 year old’s like to eat everything. After cleaning with this and then still having to go back over everything with Clorox and Lysol, I wouldn’t recommend this product UNLESS using a non chemical cleaner is important to you.
